About Simons Custom Homes
Throughout high school and while attending college I worked construction during the summers. My final year in college I worked part time for a commercial construction company as a framer. Even after graduating with a degree in biology I continued to work construction. I enjoyed the challenges and rewards as well as the ability to take time off to pursue my passion at the time—climbing.
For the next couple years I worked for a high end contractor as a lead carpenter and project manager. Finally, in 1997 at what I call the end of my climbing career, I stepped out on my own and began what is now Apex Construction Management. I lived in the Seattle area, building homes on Lake Washington for the next three years.
In 2000 I had the opportunity to move to Guemes Island for work. Having enjoyed Guemes ever since I was a child, I jumped at the opportunity. Thirteen years later I am still in disbelief that I am lucky enough to live and work here on the island. When not working, my wife and I are usually enjoying the outdoors, whether in our yard, riding dirt bikes, skiing, diving, fishing, backpacking, or simply relaxing on the beach.
